The Way of Remembrance - A Guided Experience

Welcome to our Good Friday Experience. We have stations throughout the building intended to encourage reflection and worship. Drop in any time from 4-8pm. This event does not offer any childcare, but we will be offering some kid focused participation as you walk through the stations. Come as a family or individually. We hope you'll be able to join us as we remember Jesus' journey to the cross.

Please click on the stations below for guidance as you move through the building.

Station 1

Remembrance
Hallway from Main Lobby

As you walk along the path of the palm branches, reach out and touch them. Let the feel of the branches bring you to the events of Holy Week. Remember how quickly events changed. On Palm Sunday in Jerusalem, the Isrealite people hailed Christ as the Messiah - laying fresh palms as a carpet to welcome a king! But only a few days later the scene darkened. The Hebrew leaders pulled the carpet from the feet of Jesus and instead judged and executed Him.

Jesus entered Jerusalem being rightfully hailed as king. Yet days later he hung on a cross, being called “King of the Jews,” in mockery. When Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, it was with the full knowledge of the suffering that lay ahead. He did this out of His love for me and you. Our true King came to die. Reflect on the love that motivated our Savior to journey into the city where His death awaited Him.

Station 2

Meditation
Equipping Room

Read and meditate on these Scriptures:

  • Mark 15:1-47
  • Philippians 2:5-8
  • 1 Peter 2:22-24
  • Isaiah 53:1-12

Station 3

Prayer
Preschool Rooms - enter through P4

Light a candle and spend some time in prayer, individually or with those you came with.

Thank God for the forgiveness of sins and providing a way for our salvation. Praise and thank the Lord for His sacrifice, for going to the cross on our behalf. Pray through the passages you read in the previous room and thank God for His sacrifice and character. Pray that we would have the humility of Christ (Phil. 2:5-8) and become more like Him. Thank God that He did not despise the cross, but endured it for the joy set before Him. Pray that God would begin to reveal sin in our hearts (station six will have a time of confession)

When you're finished, blow out the candle as a reminder of Christ's life on earth and His death on the cross.

Station 4

Worship n Adoration
Student Center

Spend some time singing in worship and adoration because of what Christ has done. There will be three songs in total on rotation.

Station 5

Recognition
Hallway outside Student Center

Observe the eight pieces of art representing the moments leading to Christ's death. Put yourself in each scene and imagine the various perspectives - the crowd, Pilate, the soldiers, Jesus's inner circle, and Jesus Himself.

Station 6

Confession n Communion
Auditorium - doors will open every 5 minutes

  • Start by listening to a brief live message.
  • Next a Pastor will guide you to the cross at the center of the room for communion. Communion is for those who have confessed faith in Christ Jesus.

Exit: Please exit quietly out of the auditorium (use the doors with the exit sign).
