The mission of Redeemer Church is to declare Jesus and develop Jesus followers. Obedience to this mission is the foundation of every Redeemer ministry.
Following Jesus means life priorities will change to match His. Jesus commands His followers to love their neighbor, and says love for fellow Christians in your church is a central mark of devotion to Christ. Redeemer Care aims to meet practical tangible needs within our church body, while prioritizing spiritual needs and development.
The following is a list of our Redeemer Care outlets.
Benevolence
Benevolence Ministry exists to help those who have come into a hard place and need a helping hand. Priority is given to people who are a part of our congregation and we consider outside applications as well. If you are in need of financial assistance, please fill out this application. Learn more about our Benevolence Guidelines here.
Prayer
We would love to pray for you! We have a prayer team that receives prayer requests from our church body weekly. Or, if you would like to keep your request confidential, you can let us know that it is just for pastors, elders and their wives. You can submit your request at this link.
Counseling
Biblical Soul Care is a ministry designed to help those who are members of or attend Redeemer Church. You might know it as Biblical counseling, intentional discipleship, mentoring, or other names. We would define it as speaking the truth in love anchored in the Word of God, depending on the Spirit of God, and practiced in a community of believers. It is more of an overarching term and a cultural philosophy of care than a counseling method. We believe it is time to redeem the word counseling to mean what God intended in Scripture. Good Christian counsel, or soul care, is Biblically based, Spirit-led, and Christ-saturated counsel that brings about Christ-likeness, true soul rest, and targets lasting heart change. It is much more than a counseling method; it is a cultural philosophy that should affect every part of body life of a healthy, growing church. We have a great desire to see soul care returned to the church. We have a strong conviction that the most hurting individuals should be able to be cared for within the church. For more detailed information regarding our views on counseling you can read our Redeemer Philosophy of Counseling, found on our What we Believe - Distinctives Page. Are you looking for help? Biblical Soul care works with individuals, couples and families as they face various challenges and concerns in life. Home Maintenance
We are in the process of developing this ministry and gathering volunteers. To volunteer and/or learn more, please contact Bill Geaschel (815-997-3501). This ministry aims to serve the practical needs of those in our church community by utilizing the skills and talents of men in basic trades and handyman work. This ministry focuses on providing assistance to those who do not have the means and/or ability to maintain their homes, such as widows, single parents, and the elderly. This ministry does not provide work from a licensed contracting business or entity, but is a service provided by trusted and qualified men within our congregation. (Help may include: consultation meeting to address home maintenance needs; plumbing, electrical, etc.; plumbing: fixing clogs or simple leaks; electrical: potentially replacing light fixture; installing outlets, troubleshooting electrical problems; general repairs: fixing broken items, assembling furniture, and performing maintenance task; yard work: fall cleanup and basic landscaping; automotive: providing diagnosis and guidance on vehicle issues.)
